DHS Defies Supreme Court Order on DACA

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today that it will reject all new initial DACA applications and applications for Advance Parole from DACA recipients. This refusal is illegal and violates the orders of the U.S. Supreme Court in June and the U.S. District Court in Maryland earlier this month.

DHS also announced that it will continue to accept renewal applications for people who have already been granted DACA status, but it will reduce the validity period from two years to one, effective immediately.

Our firm will continue to offer DACA consultations, but we will put our current initial DACA applications on hold until we have further guidance from the government.

Here at GLA, we are outraged at the Trump Administration’s disregard for the law and the future of our nation’s Dreamers. This is not the final word on DACA. As before, there will be lawsuits, and the government may be forced to accept DACA and Advance Parole applications again. Until then, please follow us on Facebook for the latest updates on the program.
