Highlights of Proposed Immigration Reform

We have a proposal for immigration reform! It is a US Senate version, and now will be debated in the US House of Representatives before we have a final bill that will be sent to President Obama for signing. We could have the
law by summer 2013. Its provisions for undocumented immigrants will not take effect until six months after the bill is signed into law and the Department of Homeland Security has submitted two “southern border security strategies” to Congress. That means that the soonest US Citizenship and Immigration Services can begin to accept applications for registration from those in the US in undocumented status will in the early months of 2014.
